Games Of Thrones Season 7: What 'Eastwatch' Really Means

5. The Pregnancy And The Prophecy

Just to mess with the friction that the episode was so clearly seeding between Jaime and Cersei, along came the revelation that she's expecting the pitter-patter of tiny webbed feet once more, as she's pregnant with another of his incestuous bastards.

How romantic.

There might be some question over whether Cersei is actually telling the truth about the pregnancy (as there is an argument to say it would help control Jaime), but it would definitely have more impact if it was a genuine pregnancy because of what it would mean to her prophecy.

If she were to give birth, it would effectively dispel the prophecy, as it would defy some of the specifics Maggy laid out (like Cersei having only 3 children) and it would embolden her to feel basically invincible (after all, without those other details, her death at the hands of the valonqar would presumably be unlikely too).

But if she were to lose the child, we could actually see the final steps of the prophecy confirmed - the idea of her drowning in her own tears - which would snatch her perceived redemption out of her hands tragically. And that could be the thing that pushes her over the edge into madness.
