Gotham Season 5: 3 Ups & 1 Down From 'The Trial Of Jim Gordon'
1. Jim & Lee's Wedding
While almost every character on the Fox series has struggled at one time or another, it's safe to say that Gordon and Lee have experienced more heartache than just about anyone else. The couple have been in an on-off relationship for the guts of the entire series' run, and during that time they've been put through the ringer, from miscarriages to near-death experiences - not to mention Jim's brief stint in prison, or Lee's time as queen of The Narrows - but despite all of it, they've managed to come out the other end.
Whether the writers initially planned for the two characters getting together or not, the writing and plotting of this relationship has been exceptional. After all of the heartache, in the face of defeat, the pair finally manage to commit to one another. Their wedding is nothing short of perfect. It only seems fair to praise McKenzie's script once more, as he penned a genuinely touching scene here, and incorporating Harvey Bullock into the service was genius on his part.
It's a rare moment of happiness - not only for Lee and Gordon, but for the residents of Gotham in general - and with the future so uncertain, this is exactly what was needed.
