20 TV Shows That Failed To Stick The Landing
5. Lost
Lost was always going to struggle to bring together all its moving pieces together in a satisfying way, doomed by its own complexity.
One of the most thrilling dramas ever made, Lost followed a group of plane crash survivors who find themselves stranded on a mysterious island tangled in secrets. At first, everything seems simple enough; the survivors find they're not alone on the island, and are left scattered by their new foes.
But as the show progressed, things became too messy. The island's mysteries kept becoming more complicated, blending time travel with alternate realities until the final season had to bring everything together in a way that made it all make something resembling sense.
The answers, though, never really came, and Lost decided to end its run not with an explanation of all that audiences had seen, but with an emotional farewell to its characters after years of conflict and torment. It's touching, sure, but shining more of a light on the island's mysteries - young Walt's psychic powers, the numbers! - would have gone a long way.
