20 TV Shows That Failed To Stick The Landing
16. Sons of Anarchy
Sons of Anarchy was always destined to end one way: With the death of series lead Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), who from day one was doomed to the life he had chosen.
Throughout its run, Kurt Sutter's gritty and grimy biker gang drama was a thrilling spectacle full of colourful characters, gripping tragedy, and brilliantly melodramatic rug pulls. But as it went on, the melodrama took over, its characters became too violent, and the fun undertones of the show were replaced by a distinct hopelessness.
In its seventh and final season especially, Sons of Anarchy suffered, reducing many fan favourite characters to nasty props for torture and dismay - including Juice (Theo Rossi), tortured incessantly by white supremacists in prison because... reasons? - and Jax himself to a horrible, soulless weapon of mass destruction.
The nuance of the series' previous years was long gone, and the drama became too miserable to enjoy. When it did finally end (with almost everyone dead!), it was honestly a relief.
