Hannibal: 10 Greatest 'Holy Sh*t!' Moments So Far

8. The "Angels"

Episode: Coquilles Hannibal flirts with going over the top quite often, and there is one episode where their symbolism seems closer to obnoxiously overt than ever before, but the dreadful imagination on display is quite simply an impressive thing to behold. A seriously disturbed man (there are quite a few in this series) is suffering from a terminal brain tumor, and in order to be able to sleep at night, he kills people, and cuts the skin off their backs to give them angel wings. These corpses he then props up over his bed to watch over him as he sleeps. This image speaks for itself: when Graham steps into this crime scene for the first time, no amount of intellectualising will get you past the sickening first impression. Eugh.
