House Of The Dragon: Everything We Know So Far

Throughout Game of Thrones, there was a strong balance struck between well known actors and complete newcomers. The likes of Sean Bean, Mark Addy, and Charles Dance were joined by unknowns like Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, and Emilia Clarke, and this worked well. It made stars of many of these newcomers, and it looks as though House of the Dragon is taking the same route.

Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Matt Smith, and arguably even Graham McTavish are among the names that mainstream audiences will recognise, while names like Emma D'Arcy, Steve Toussaint and Eve Best are far more obscure.

This is a strategy that worked incredibly well before, and there is no reason to think that in a few years time some of the House of the Dragon unknowns won't be starring in their own movies and making a splash in Hollywood.

They have certainly had the pressure of George R. R. Martin's high praise heaped on them, as the author of the source material has promised that viewers will fall in love with them before hinting that many of them could die. It wouldn't be Westeros if that weren't the case now, would it?
