How I Met Your Mother: 10 Best Supporting Characters

3. Wendy The Waitress

Charlene Amoia played Wendy the waitress in 17 episodes, and she seemed to always be around while the group was sitting in MacLaren's bar. Wendy was one of those characters who didn't have a lot of lines on the show, but she played a huge part in everyone's lives throughout the series.

In many of her appearances, she is seen bringing drinks and doing things one might expect from someone in her profession, but in others, she's working support operations for Barney's plays against women. This changed somewhat when Barney slept with her, though she was more into the prospect of a relationship than him.

As a result, Barney stopped accepting drinks directly brought to him by Wendy, as he was certain she would do something nasty to get back at him for how he treated her. Wendy was always there, but when Ted bumped into her at an airport many years later, he didn't recognize her right away.

She then recounted how she met her husband and how they both bonded over the fact that they hated Marshall. She wasn't a fan of him after he imposed a "Go Green" initiative at the bar, and her husband Meeker hated Marshall because he got him fired.
