9. When She Ditched Ted In The Middle Of Nowhere
In the episode “Milk”, Lily discovers an art fellowship in San Francisco and decides to apply, even though it could jeopardise her wedding plans with Marshall.
Unfortunately, on her long travels, her car gets a flat tyre and she can’t call Marshall because she is trying to keep this career opportunity a secret from him and instead asks Ted to come out to her aid.
Ted is about to go on a date with what he thinks is ‘the one’ as they are so compatible on paper so it’s already a bit unfair that she would ask him for help when she knows how important this evening is to him. Being a good friend, he travels miles and miles to fix her flat tyre. How does Lily repay him? By abandoning him on the side of the road stating that “he’ll just have to forgiver her”.
Not only did Lily almost ruin Ted’s perfect date (which admittedly he didn’t go through with anyway), but she put him in a really vulnerable position where he is far from the city with no travel and is easily sustainable to a dangerous situation.
Not the sign of a good friend.
