How I Met Your Mother: 10 Worst Things Lily Ever Did

There was perhaps no fight more brutal between Marshall and Lily than the one in the episode “Unpause”. It came about after Marshall accepted a job as a judge and had to make a snap decision about it, knowing full well he couldn’t consult Lily about it. She had big plans to pursue her art career further in Italy but it would all have to come to a halt because of Marshall’s new position. She is furious with him and insists that they still move to Italy because it's what she wants.

Whilst it’s understandable how Lily was upset about Marshall not consulting her on such a life-changing decision, it’s still inconsiderate on her behalf how she couldn’t see the bigger picture. This new job position was something Marshall had dreamed of all his life and spent years in a miserable corporate job to get there, yet Lily can only think of her own life goals. She doesn’t seem to realise Marshall’s new career could change both their lives for the better as well as help their growing family.

As soon as Marshall brings up Lily leaving him for San Francisco (once again, we’ll get to that later), she can’t face up to it, claiming that it was “old news” and escapes from the hotel. It’s another typical instance where Lily is being both hypocritical and selfish.
