How I Met Your Mother: The Best Episode From Every Season
1. Season 9: How Your Mother Met Me
Season 9 of How I Met Your Mother is far better than most fans remember. Controversial ending aside, the show's final season gave us the likes of Platonish, Bass Player Wanted, Unpause, Gary Blauman, and The End of the Aisle. However, its best half hour is the Tracy McConnell led episode How Your Mother Met Me.
The episode changes its focus from Ted and the gang, instead following the Mother throughout the course of the series. Beginning with the tragic death of her boyfriend Max on the same night Ted meets Robin, Tracy spends the next few years almost bumping into Ted, but not quite. We meet a few of Tracy's friends, and get a quick glimpse into her world.
The episode ends with Tracy at the Farhampton Inn, the night before Barney and Robin's wedding. She sings a beautiful ukulele cover of La Vie En Rose, which her neighbor Ted hears.
Season 9 of How I Met Your Mother had the difficult challenge of introducing viewers to this larger than life Mother character, someone we've heard so much about for the past eight years. In How Your Mother Met Me, the Mother lives up to her reputation, thanks in part to a great performance from Cristin Milioti. The episode marks a highpoint in the final season of of a legen-wait for it-dary show.
