2. Lethal Weapon 6
The Gang’s well-meaning-but-totally-offensive continuation of the Lethal Weapon franchise provided some of the funniest moments of season 9 but is also remembered for being perhaps one of the series’ most controversial episodes.
Featuring Mac donning blackface to portray Danny Glover’s straight-laced veteran cop, Roger Murtaugh, and Dee joining him as Murtaugh’s daughter, Rianne.
There is no doubt that the episode was going to become one of the show’s most talked about and would likely draw criticism from some, mainly regarding the historical context of the use of blackface as a comedic device.
However, much like many of the sensitive subjects that feature in the show, the humour was derived from other character’s reactions to the blatant insensitivity and, the shower scene especially, demonstrated how ridiculous Mac’s efforts were.
