Judge Dredd: Mega-City One - 10 Things We Want To See
2. Don't Attempt To Build A Shared Universe (Yet)
Judge Dredd exists in a shared universe with a number of other 2000 AD properties, including Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog and ABC Warriors.
As criminally underappreciated as these characters have become, Judge Dredd: Mega-City One should resist the temptation to introduce them with a view to setting up a series of off-shoot shows, at least for now.
Mega-City One must stand alone first. There's so much unexplored scope in Judge Dredd and fleshing his world out should be the number one priority. Several series down the line, cameos from the rest of the 2000 AD gang might be viable, providing the writer can come up with legitimate reasons to bring them in.
Dredd has crossed paths with them in comics on a number of occasions. Strontium Dog's Johnny Alpha joined him in the Top Dog and Judgement Day arcs, and fans may also remember him arresting Rogue Trooper.
So crossovers aren't exactly off the table, but contrived or rushed attempts at universe building never pan out, so Mega-City One should leave them on the backburner.
