Love, Victor Season 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
1. The Performances
One of Love, Victor's strongest assets is undoubtedly the performers that bring it to life.
Michael Cimino delivered a career-defining performance in the first season and he follows up on that beautifully here, telling the next chapter of Victor's story with a leading performance that is both subtle and captivating.
He's once again joined by that remarkable ensemble that made us instantly fall in love with their characters the first time around. Rachel Hilson is wonderful as Mia, sensitively showcasing her struggles as she attempts to find her place once again. Bebe Wood is even more stunning than she was before, highlighting her versatility as a performer as she nails all of the typically-comedic Lake's more emotional moments. And Anthony Turpel delivers arguably the most endearing performance of the season as Felix once again steals the show.
George Sear also delivers with Benji's meatier role this season and his on-screen chemistry with Cimino is incredible. Mason Gooding succeeds in portraying Andrew as the more-nuanced character we only saw glimpses of in the previous season. And, as we discussed earlier, perhaps the season's best performance goes to Ortiz - who goes above and beyond in highlighting Isabel's conflicts in an authentic way.
Love, Victor continues to be a groundbreaking show that is brought to life by an absolutely exquisite cast.
