When Daredevil came out, it was to huge critical acclaim, the likes not usually given to superhero TV. It was dark, edgy, and super violent, with some stunning fight choreography and two complex characters at its core. Jessica Jones wasn't necessarily expected to top it, but that it did, giving a superhero show that went much deeper than crimefighting, dealing with an array of real life issues, and had some incredible performances anchoring it. So, can Luke Cage raise the bar again?

Well, Collider gave it 5 stars, which is a very impressive start, and a rating also given by ComicBook.com, while Deadline call it "one of the best shows on the air and on the horizon."

Comics Beat have perhaps the most glowing review, saying: "If you’ve grown tired of the black and white morality plays the generally comprises the genre and want something that resembles prestige television, Luke Cage is just what you’ve been looking for. It couldn’t have come at a better time."

They go on to add that "Luke Cage is, without fail, exceptional on all fronts," and call it "Marvel’s best television effort yet."

High praise indeed. Thankfully it's not long until the rest of the world finds out.
