Marvel's The Defenders: 8 Ways It Saved Iron Fist

1. Admitting His Faults And Stepping Up

As stated before, Danny is not only more mature in The Defenders as opposed to Iron Fist, but also comes to terms with the fact that sometimes you do need help and need to work as a team in order to be successful. This is so important in regards to why Iron Fist is a better character, however, that it warrants its own entry.

One of the true signs of maturity is being able to admit when you're wrong and work to fix your mistakes, and that's exactly what Danny did in The Defenders not once, but twice.

The first time came after Luke gave him a piece of his mind in regards to his methods and he decided to take his words to heart, marching up to the top of The Hand's headquarters with the intent of cutting off the proverbial snake's head. The moment when he gives Alexandra a verbal smackdown is reminiscent of Foggy Nelson's rise to prominence in season two of Daredevil, and solidified the idea that we were looking at a brand-new Iron Fist.

Plus, when he does threaten to fall back into his petulant ways, he is met with consequences that he actually learns from. He comes to terms with the fact that his one-man army mentality was flawed and got him into more trouble than it was worth, and meshed with his team to take down The Hand once and for all.

If Marvel keeps Danny on this new path, and keeps him from going back to his old bratty habits, there just may be hope for Iron Fist season two yet.
