Marvel's The Defenders: Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best

1. Daredevil

It's not surprising considering that Daredevil's Marco Ramirez was showrunner on The Defenders that Matt Murdock is easily the best character in the show. It's not for nothing that Charlie Cox gets first billing in the credits.

For starters, Matt begins the story in the most interesting place, as he is struggling to give up being a vigilante while he and the rest of Nelson & Murdock & Page have gone their separate ways. However, his life is quickly thrown upside down when he is forced to down the ol' horned helmet again when he discovers that his dead lover Elektra is alive and working for the Hand. Needless to say, Matt has the most emotional connection to the plot.

It was also the best move to have Matt be the martyr at the end of the season. Sure, we never buy for a second that he is gone for good, but we've known him the longest of all the characters in the series, meaning his loss - even if it is temporary - packs the biggest punch.
