Marvel's Iron Fist: 30 WTF Moments In Netflix's First Failure
9. Split Screen (For TWO Seconds)
There are some good action sequences in the show, despite the fight choreography issues and the fact that Finn Jones really isn't convincing as Iron Fist. The scene in the final episode when he punches the floor and knocks everyone out - well all of the non-main characters at least - is great and shows off how stylised action could have worked.
There's also a shot in the first corridor fight early on that swings the camera to an overhead shot, which would have been a visually striking way to frame that fight scene. Alas, it lasted but a couple of seconds, which is really the tale of the entire show.
Like in the second last episode, as Colleen and Davos try to rescue Danny. At one point, the camera splits in two, with a distinct black line down the middle to show the two fighting separately. It's a great idea, and it lasts precisely two seconds and then disappears with no other context in the whole show. It's like they had about £30 to spend on a visual effect and that's all it bought them.
