Master Of None: 10 Reasons It's The Most Underrated Netflix Original Series
3. The Acting Is Great
Ansari isn't a great actor. He is good, but he can't convincingly convey certain emotions, like the combination of doubt and regret his character presumably feels when riding alone in the back of the car in The Dinner Party episode. Still, his positive emotions are almost contagious. Ansari's parents, who play his parents in the series, are really bad at acting, yet here that's the whole point. And since they're supposed to be awkward characters, their awkwardness is really sweet and understandable.
The rest of the cast is simply great. Eric Wareheim as Arnold is the most obvious that comes too mind, since his warmth is visible in every scene he participates in. Apart from him, Rachel (Noël Wells) or Francesca (Alessandra Mastronardi), characters that appear in minor roles are especially notable. New York, I Love You is probably the best acted episode of the show when taking into account its large cast. However, Thanksgiving is not far behind, with stellar performances from Angela Bassett and Kym Whitley. Even reality show star Erica Mena shines in that episode.
