4. The Humor

To put things simply, Big Mouth is a very funny show, which makes use of various types of jokes. A lot of them are based on the plot and the traits of the characters, thanks to which the show is consistent and keeps the same pace.

While a lot of the jokes ridicule everyday events and situations, others make great use of the supernatural elements of the show, like in the case of Maury's crawling, hairy penises, that pop up whenever he feels an urge to have sex. There are throwaway jokes as well, for example the local synagogue is called Temple Beth Amphetamine, even though the name is just visible in the background for a brief moment. Worthy of a special mentioning are the short jokes commenting on political events, like the battle of Fallujah.

The show also breaks the fourth wall numerous times, when the writers seem well aware that the viewers will be binge-watching or notice when the name of the show comes up in a conversation.
