A famous urban legend similar to stories around the world, such as the Woman In White, or even La Llorona, among other ghostly women, the White Lady of Balete Drive is a ghost that haunts Balete Drive in Quezon City.

Balete Trees are massive trees commonly associated with the supernatural, and Balete Drive once bore such a tree that gave the road its name. That, and the lonely long stretch of road flanked by high walls and hedges, lends the street its haunted atmosphere.

Those who have driven down that road at night describe seeing the White Lady that allegedly haunts that road. Some stories mark her the victim of a hit and run, and by a taxi driver.

Others describe a girl that was abused by her family, her restless soul haunting the road near where she used to live. All White Lady stories involve a girl or woman who was wronged in life.

The White Lady in the series is a subtle nod to scandals covered up by corrupt politicians involving female victims, the most prominent of which is the story of Pepsi Paloma, the victim of assault by the family member of a famous Filipino senator.
