3. Eric’s Relationship With Religion Is Explored
Eric is gay and religious, which is something a lot of LGBT people can struggle with due to the varying views within religion. Eric, however, seems to have positive and reassuring experiences at church.
This side of things needs to be explored further in Season 2, especially the journey of how Eric got there. They show that it’s not God who has a problem, but instead homophobic people who do not truly represent God’s ideals.
Eric deals with being beaten up whilst in drag. Maybe his faith helps him cope with situations such as this. Either way, Eric doesn’t seem to stray away from religion despite his personal struggles, and this kind of thing is hardly ever explored in many coming-of-age shows.
