8. Taystee And Crazy Eyes Bond
The fate of Vee was left hanging slightly, with there being a (very) small possibility she would survive being hit with a speeding prison truck. In the prison, the only person who believes that Vee isnt dead is Suzanne, and she is taking the disappearance and constant talk of her demise about as well as youd expect. Which is to say, terribly. It falls to Taystee to finally manage to get through to her, and make her understand that Vee was actually killed and is not coming back to Litchfield. She not only gets the message to Crazy Eyes, but gets it to herself as well and breaks down crying. Vee may have been evil and manipulative, and totally used Taystee for her own ends, but she was still the closest thing she ever had to a mother, and the emotional scene between the pair here manages to convey that perfectly.
