Orange Is The New Black: 10 Best Moments From Season 3

5. Everyone€™s A Jew

The cost-cutting measures being taken at the prison means that the quality of food has rapidly declined. As Morello puts it: €œI really liked eating. It was part of my daily routine.€ However, thanks to inmate Lolly, there is a way around this. If you say you€™re Jewish they have to give you a kosher meal, which is significantly better than what else is being served. The rest of the inmates quickly jump on the opportunity, presenting to be Jews in order to get a decent meal. This leads to a scene where they€™re all interviewed one-by-one by a Rabbi, in order to prove their faith. It€™s a comic montage as they roll out stereotype after stereotype - €œI call my mother every day€€ €œDon€™t even talk to me about shrimps!€ - ending with Cindy attempting to pass off the plot of Annie Hall as her life. It works well as a comedy moment in its own right, but also serves to set up Cindy's story arc for the rest of the season.
