Orange Is The New Black: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 3

6. Faith - Down

There were two key themes running through season 3 of Orange Is The New Black: €˜faith€™ and €˜motherhood€™. While the latter, shown through the likes of Daya, Aleida, Pennsatucky and more, worked very well for the show, the same cannot be said of the former. Although Norma gets an excellent flashback sequence, showing her following a cult leader in scenes a little reminiscent of another superb Netflix series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, in the present day is it she who amasses the followers. The story of her disciples seeing her as some sort of all-powerful leader is a strange one, and runs for way too long, encompassing the bullying of Sosa and the sacred worship of a piece of toast, and ultimately it ends up going nowhere.
