Orange Is The New Black: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 3

5. The Superb Cast - Up

The show received plenty of acclaim for its cast during the first two seasons, picking up a number of award wins and nominations. Again, in its third outing, it has once again shown that it has one of the strongest and most diverse casts in television today. The usual names - Taylor Schilling (Piper), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes), Kate Mulgrew (Red) - were all present and firing on all cylinders once more, yet many others raised their game as well. Taryn Manning has already done some excellent work as a villain on the show, but this season she was fantastic as vulnerable and naive Pennsatucky, and her friendship and chemistry with Lea DeLaria€™s Big Boo was another highlight of the season. Lori Petty had a bigger role this time around, nailing it as the paranoid Lolly who is convinced Alex is working for the NSA, while Ruby Rose - the most hyped of the newcomers - was a great addition to the cast. You could go on a while listing names, as it really is an ensemble piece where most of the players get their chance to shine, and when it comes they almost always take it.
