Ozark Season 4: 12 Questions That Must Be Answered

11. What Is Jonah Building Up To?

When we last left Jonah Byrde he was in a rather dark place.

His uncle, a man who he grew fond of and seemed to be getting paternal approval and attention from, had been killed by the Cartel and his parents weren't sharing the same anger he felt.

Jonah's intelligence twinned with his (somewhat) disturbing behavior has been foreshadowed for too long, and it came to a head in the season three finale when he pulled a shotgun on Helen Pierce, and was a hairsbreadth away from blasting her away.

While he would have ultimately done the Cartel a favor (spoilers!), if he had acted on his impulses it would have been a disturbing escalation for the character. Not that he hasn't tried to shoot someone before, but this was the closest he had put himself in direct danger with the Cartel.

Whatever happens in the fourth season, we have to assume that Jonah's resentment for his parents' allowing Uncle Ben to be killed will certainly carry over. Given how impulsively he acts and how methodical he can be with his ideas, if he continues to live in his own curious world there will no doubt be ramifications.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
