Ranking All 50 Game Of Thrones Episodes From Worst To Best

49. Breaker Of Chains (Season 4, Episode 3)

This episode also belongs near the bottom of the list for the portrayal of a scene that is not only horrifying, but makes absolutely no sense in the context of either character. While King Joffrey lay dead in the Sept, Jamie Lannister proceeds to rape his sister, Cersei. In the books, the sex is consensual (although a bit graphic, as Martin makes sure to note that it€™s €œthat time of the month€ for Cersei, for whatever reason). At this time in the story, Jaime has redeemed himself as not a villain, but a hero, while Cersei is pretty much evil incarnate. After this scene, it looks like Jaime is now the villain, and Cersei is a sympathetic figure. What makes it worse is that there doesn€™t seem to be any consequences, as the encounter is never mentioned again. Thus, it doesn€™t matter what else happened in this episode, which is fatal for a show so invested in cause and effect.
