Ranking Every Season Of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia From Worst To Best
3. Season 7
God bless Rob McElhenney for deciding to get fat for a single season, because it helped to deliver some of the best Sunny episodes fans have ever seen. However, there's one thing that hurts what is a near perfect season, and that's being home to the worst episode of Sunny.
"Frank's Brother" is that episode in question. We meet Frank's long lost brother in a series of flashbacks that go over their rivalry over a woman named Shadynasty. It's not good, it's not funny and it's the only truly bad episode of Sunny out there.
Then there's episodes like "The Gang Gets Trapped" and "The Storm of the Century" which are extremely quotable and hilarious through and through. "Thunder Gun Express" has Frank at his best, as he tells a bunch of tourists in Philly about how him and Charlie walk around in the sewers naked and how much he really loves "banging whores."
This season also showcases the creativity of the showrunners. "How Mac Got Fat" features footage from an episode shot for Season 6 that didn't air, and allows them to show both a skinny and fat Mac in the same episode. It also gives a storyline reason as to why Mac gained so much weight. It's all about the avatar. The beefcake avatar.
"Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games" is not only a highlight of the season, but a highlight of the series. The dynamic of the game, the competitiveness and the absurdity of all the challenges make it a wild and hilarious ride.
It's hard to imagine a season so near perfect can be outdone, but when it comes to the two best seasons of Sunny, they are virtually untouchable.
