15. Joaquin DeSantos

Kevin Kellar's first boyfriend, Joaquin DeSantos caught us all off-guard in the show's first season - and not just because he was so dreamy. A serpent tasked with getting information out of the sheriff's son, he quickly became attached to Kevin and, dare we say it, even began to fall for him. The pair's relationship was hindered by significant lack of screen-time, but their cute moments here and there made up for it.

His departure in Season 1 may have left a lot of fans upset but his return in the third season had them beside themselves - and angry... very very angry. Having somehow ended up in the same detention center as Archie (despite leaving town), he was also drawn into the Riverdale-exclusive obsession with Gryphons & Gargoyles (despite leaving town) and was ultimately killed off after a ton of one-dimensional behaviour and no reunion with Kevin.

Another unnecessary casualty of that ridiculous Gargoyle King, Joaquin deserved so so much better.
