Riverdale Season 3 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. Darker Days Lie Ahead

As shocking as the finale was, nothing could have quite prepared viewers for the episode's final moments.

As the core four raised their milkshakes to a mystery-free senior year, the episode skipped into the future where we saw Archie, Betty and Veronica standing around a campfire in their underwear - all of them covered in blood. A disturbing sight, no doubt, things only got more sinister when Archie clasped Jughead's blood-soaked beanie in his hands, as Betty made her apparent accomplices vow to never speak of "what happened" because after senior year, they would go their separate ways.

This, of course, has left viewers wondering as to what actually did happen.

Naturally, it appears that Jughead is dead and that Betty, Archie and Veronica were somehow involved in it (hence their attempts to burn his beanie). While that is a possibility (given that the show has sacrificed characters in the past) this is Riverdale we're talking about and nothing is ever what it seems - even when it should be. With that in mind, you can rest assured that Season 4 will add new layers and twists to the story in a bid to help viewers understand what this unnerving pact is all about.

If Jughead were here, he would have already solved it by now. The question is: Will he be around in Season 4 to do so?
