Scream: 10 Problems Season 2 Needs To Fix

4. Better Relationship Drama

Scream Emma and Will
MTV

Scream does have a fair amount of relationship drama, and at this point that's just something you're going to have to accept about it. It's an MTV show, after all, but is it too much to ask for any of these relationships not to suck?

Seriously, what was one well written or interesting relationship that happened this entire season? There was the Emma, Kieran and Will love triangle, which at first appeared to be setting up Kieran to be the killer and to betray Emma, but no, it was just a generic love triangle. There was Riley and Noah, a relationship built on surface level pop culture references before Riley was slashed. There was Mr. Branson and Brooke, a creepy student/teacher romance that served practically no purpose.

In one of Noah’s pilot episode monologues, he said the series is really more about these characters and their relationships than it is about the killer, and you have to care about them just as much. If that was the goal, the show failed miserably. The only relationships that had any sort of spark were the friendships between Audrey and Noah and Audrey and Emma, and that's only because Bex Taylor-Klaus is so damn likable. If Season 2 is going to rely heavily on relationships again, please just make them worthwhile this time.
