Scream: 10 Problems Season 2 Needs To Fix
3. Less Hip Internet Talk
It’s one thing to bring in the Internet and elements of modern culture, but it’s another thing for a show to feel like it’s just trying way too hard to appeal to a young, Internet savvy demographic. "Look, our characters are using Twitter and Snapchat! We know about the kids these days!"
That might be less annoying if the actual logistics of the social media use made more sense, but according to this show, just about everything posted on the Internet goes viral immediately. Yeah, there’s that one scene in the second episode where Noah paints “doosh” on Jake’s car, posts a picture of that online, and it immediately “goes viral” within five minutes. Then there’s the episode where the killer apparently sends a Snapchat (or some sort of snapchat knockoff) to everyone in school. Assuming this was Piper, it’s unclear how she even has everyone’s Snapchat username, and what account did she send it from, anyway?
Scream 4 used modern technology too, but it was just a part of the characters' lives and was never shoved in your face. The TV series too often goes way too far with it as to always have its characters texting, having things constantly go viral, and having the killer send around an image of her murder like its a Tumblr meme.
