Scream: 12 WTF Moments From Episode 2
7. Emma’s Really Sorry, Kind Of
Emma starts to feel worse and worse about what she did to Audrey, so this week she attempts to make things right. She tries to talk to Audrey early on but it’s a pretty terrible “apology,” with Emma saying that she wishes she didn’t film them but asking if they can just move on. “Pretty soon there’s gonna be a new headline.” What kind of apology is that?
But then after Rachael dies, Emma naturally feels responsible, and a lot of this episode deals with her reaction to that. Emma and Audrey talk again later, and this time it goes a lot better. Emma takes full responsibility for Rachael’s death, although her wording of it is a little questionable. She says that “Whether the video was a tiny part of it or the thing that pushed her over the edge, I’m taking full responsibility.” What’s with her implying that the video might not have been a big part of why Rachael supposedly killed herself? That’s quite obviously what lead to it, and it wasn’t a small thing. That’s not taking full responsibility, Emma.
Otherwise, Emma’s storyline in this episode is pretty effective, and the show definitely does a good job getting the audience to sympathize with Emma and see how much she regrets this horrible mistake she made.
