7. Spider-Woman Was The Skrull Queen

One of the biggest twists in Secret Invasion was the reveal that the Skrulls' leader, Queen Veranke, had replaced and impersonated Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman. Not only that, the Skrull Queen made this switch and had been a main member of the Avengers for years.

Drew obtained her spider-powers after her father injected her with a compound to stop her from being poisoned by uranium (we've all been there). Even though Drew became a Hydra agent shortly after, Nick Fury convinced her to become a superhero.

When her powers stopped working, Hydra agreed to returned her spider-abilities to her if she worked for them again. When she informed Fury about this proposal, he ordered her to agree to to the terrorists' terms so he could use her as a double agent to take Hydra down. Jessica agreed, and made her way to a Hydra base to have her powers returned to her.

When she was knocked out for the supposed procedure, it was revealed that the Hydra agents were really Skrulls. Veranke used this opportunity to kidnap and impersonate Spider-Woman so that she could join the Avengers and learn everything she needed to know to prepare for the takeover.
