Seinfeld: How It Should Be Re-Cast In 2021

The wild man of modern comedy, Jason Mantzoukas is perhaps the best known name on this list. In the likes of The Dictator, The Good Place, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine he has cut a crazy cloth as a collection of unhinged and deranged characters, all the while retaining an essential likeability.

These are all qualities required to properly portray Cosmo Kramer. With the worldly smile of Michael Richards, Kramer somehow transcended his colourful garb and electric shock mannerisms to feel like something quasi-human. He was believable as a man about town, blessed with life as an endlessly lucky drifter.

Mantzoukas has the look down pat, and playing Kramer would give him the opportunity to attempt a slightly less abrasive version of his usual schtick. He’d need to utilise his trademark manic energy, but imbued with a sense of optimism, entrepreneurial zest, and friendly curiosity (he’s destructive, but Kramer’s the nicest of the gang by far).

Kramer’s hardly the deepest of the core four, but Mantzoukas’ varied CV suggests he has the acting chops to produce something more than mayhem from this most beloved of wacky sitcom neighbours.
