Estelle Harris and the late, lamented Jerry Stiller were arguably Seinfeld’s most reliable scene stealers as Frank and Estelle Costanza. The pair raged and roared at the world, their son George, the Seinfelds, and each other, guaranteeing high octane laughs in every appearance.
While Danny De Vito doesn’t share too much comedic DNA with Stiller, the two have the unusual ability to be utterly disgusting but still somehow loveable. De Vito is one of the gamest men in comedy, which he’s proved across 14 plus seasons of Always Sunny, and has a track record of playing delightfully loathsome individuals on network comedies.
And Lord knows the world could use more Rhea Perlman. She’s sitcom royalty after Cheers and is similarly unafraid to make herself look utterly deranged for the sake of a laugh. She’s teamed with real life husband De Vito a couple of times, and we’d love to see it again.
This diminutive twosome could bring a new kind of dysfunctional fury to Seinfeld’s greatest married couple, bringing misery and headaches to all they come across.
