1. Newman - Paul Walter Hauser
While Wayne Knight has worked primarily in drama, to most people he’ll always be Newman. The prolific actor has appeared in quality fare like JFK, Blindspotting, and (bizarrely) Narcos, but for most comedy fans he can’t escape the shadow of the dastardly postman. He’s a joy wherever he shows up, though.
A similarly delightful and increasingly visible actor, Paul Walter Hauser rose to fame through the quick succession of I, Tonya, BlackKklansman, and Richard Jewell, the latter in a starring role. The full bodied performer can do jocular comedy with the best of them, but has a fantastic way switching on a dime to explosive fury, or keeping his anger bubbling under the surface.
He’s often cast as the angry doofus with ideas above his station, which would make him ideal for the mendacious, verbose, but ultimately inept Newman. He’s a gleefully ridiculous presence when he wants to be: he could provide a fantastic foil as Jerry’s arch nemesis, all the while being no kind of genuine threat.
