Sharp Objects Ending Explained
4. Who Was The Woman In White?
One of the most evocative images haunting Sharp Objects has been that of the so-called "Woman in White", a villain of Wind Gap folklore who was apparently seen luring Ann to the woods and her eventual death.
Seen by another child playing nearby, the description was written off as the boy's imagination, not only because of the Woman in White's supernatural origins, but because the entire town was convinced that nobody other than a man could have possibly been responsible for such brutal crimes.
The figure, of course, turns out to be real, with Camille initially assuming it to be Adora. The theory fit at the time - as the character sported floaty white dresses in a few of the show's key scenes, as well as being one of the few people close enough to the victim that they'd trust and follow them into the woods - but a final, haunting image after the credits confirmed that it was in fact Amma.
