2. Up - Jen's Perspective

There are a lot of things fans can expect from She-Hulk over the coming weeks and months. It will be a courtroom comedy, Charlie Cox will return as Daredevil, and there will be lots more fourth wall breaking. However, there are also much more important themes that will be present, starting with episode one.

There was a moment during Jen and Bruce’s yoga session where he spoke of how important it was for her to control her emotions. However, as a woman, she has to cope with being cat-called and having her area of expertise explained to her by incompetent men all the time, as well as a lot more, but if she reacts in any way it is she who is out of line, difficult, and emotional.

This gives a hint into the kind of things we can expect to see driving Jen throughout the series. She has already been painfully condescended by Bruce in Mexico and Dennis in her office, and bothered by a group of men outside the bar where she found herself. It’s an important message, and it’s a good thing that the show has found a way to put it across while not compromising on its overall premise.

Tatiana Maslany has already shown that she can bring this kind of story and narrative to life, and it will surely be a strong highlight for both her and Jen as the series progresses.
