The Simpsons: 10 Times Homer Really Should Have Died

5. Attacked By Santa's Reindeer

Homer's ignorance is to blame for another major assault on his person, after his narrow-minded opinions of a new family friend lead him to take Bart deer hunting. Homer sustains serious internal injuries and is lucky to survive a run-in with a herd of reindeer. After meeting John, a charming shop owner, the Simpsons are welcoming of him until Homer finds out he's gay. After this, he becomes obsessed with making sure Bart grows up straight for once, and takes the boy hunting. After not finding any wild deer, Homer takes Bart to Santa's Village where a herd of reindeer are kept in a pen. The reindeer don't take too kindly to their intrusion, and end up surrounding Homer and Bart. Homer does manage to do something honourable for once, and lifts Bart up above his head to shield him from the imminent danger. Homer is then butted and gored by antlers from all sides, as the reindeer exact a brutal revenge. Just as it looks like the end for Homer, John saves him with a creepy robot Santa that scares the reindeer away. There's no doubt that Homer should have died in "Homer's Phobia," with deer antlers capable of inflicting pretty serious damage to a human. As well as internal rupturing and haemorrhaging, they'd have cut him up pretty bad too. Once he went down he'd have been trampled to death by the herd for sure.
