The Simpsons: 11 More Characters Who Need To Die

8. Patty And/Or Selma

Why They Should Die: Easily two of the show's most irritating supporting characters, Marge Simpson's two ugly, nicotine-addicted sisters are the frequent bane of Homer's existence. More to the point, they've been put through an exhaustible number of storylines, such as dating half of Springfield, Patty coming out as a lesbian, Selma briefly getting married to Abe Simpson (temporarily making her Homer's stepmother), and later adopting a daughter, Ling. The list is endless, but the two characters really feel played out by this point, like there's little left to do with them. Methods Of Death: Lung cancer would be the obvious choice, though it's a tad grim for what's primarily a comedy show. Maybe one of their houses burns down during a bizarre smoking accident? How Likely Is It?: The Simpsons team knows how disliked Patty and Selma are, which is probably why they'll never actually kill them off. They're still capable of gaining a reaction, even if episodes revolving around their romantic lives feel particularly dull by this point in the show's life. 4/10 for one of them (though frankly, what is one without the other?), 2/10 for both.
