Sons Of Anarchy: 10 Most Controversial Moments
2. Jax Teaches Wendy A Lesson
Out of all the genius moves Kurt Sutter made when creating Sons of Anarchy, casting Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller may have been his most significant. Hunnam came with enough antihero charm and charisma to make you forget that underneath the good looks and poorly-disguised English accent was a stone cold killer capable of some truly vile acts.
Perhaps the most despicable deed Jax pulled involved Abel's mother, Wendy. Played by Drea De Matteo, Wendy began the show as a heroin-addicted disaster but in her sporadic appearances since had shown great improvement in getting her life together. So much so that she eventually presented herself as a threat to disrupt Jax's life with his eldest son.
After Wendy had spent months fighting for her sobriety, Jax approached his firstborn's mother and harmed her in the most obscene way he could come up with - by shoving a heroin-filled needle into her arm.
This is an unjustifiable offense and is one of the first times in the show where the audience begin to see Jax as less the savior out to salvage his club from ruin and more as an irredeemable figure doomed to follow in the same footsteps as the morally devoid men who came before him.
