Star Trek: 10 Best Crossover Episodes

9. Death Wish (Star Trek: Voyager)

Death Wish had all the makings of a potential crossover episode. Q, as played by the magnificent John de Lancie, had been a recurring character in The Next Generation from the first to the last episode. He appears here because Voyager found another member of the Q Continuum €“ one who wanted to kill himself, an action that would send the Continuum into turmoil. It's an interesting episode which relates to the assisted suicide question in the real world. Commander William Riker from The Next Generation also appears in a blink and you'll miss it appearance as he's summoned by Q to support his case. Riker's appearance was played up in the trailer, and looked to be far more prominent than it actually was. But the real delight in this episode was seeing the wonderful John de Lancie back on our screens once again, and with a Captain that he could have a similar relationship to that he had with Picard €“ it just got a bit silly with Sisko. But Death Wish was a good episode because it took on a real issue in Star Trek in the same way that The Original Series used to do €“ something that the series didn't do very often.
