Star Trek: 10 Episodes You Must Watch Before Picard Season 3

1. Descent - Star Trek: The Next Generation, S6EP26/S7EP1

Lore Star Trek TNG Picard

With the reveal that Lore is returning to the Star Trek fold after 29 years, his final appearance in TNG has to be on this list.

While nowhere near the best that the 178 episodes the series had to offer, the two-part story that closed season six and opened season seven memorably brought back both the Borg and Data's "perfect" twin. Threatening to destroy the Federation, Decent finally saw the two Soong-type androids go head to head with Data ultimately gaining the upper hand. Though the threat to the Federation was quickly squashed, the individual Borg concept did reappear in Picard's first season.

Picard season three will show Lore without the emotion chip as it was removed and placed in Data's neural net in Generations. It should answer the question as to what happened after Lore was supposedly deactivated and disassembled. Picard's opener, Remembrance, explained where B4 ended up but there has been no mention of Lore in canon since his 1993 appearance.

Both Datalore and Brothers are worth a viewing if looking for a completist backstory binge but Descent will bring viewers up to speed on the story of the overly confident evil twin.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
