Star Trek: 12 Characters That Deserve Their Own Series

8. Miral Paris - Spy Or Savior?

Star Trek Miral Paris

Miral Paris was born on Voyager as the ship arrived back on Earth, at the ending of the series. She was originally raised on Voyager, in the original timeline, prior to Janeway altering the past. Miral went on to join Starfleet and became an operative on many secret missions for Section 31. She became increasingly important when the Klingons believed her to be their savior, the Kuvah'Magh. Paris could easily be another strong female lead in a series that centrally focuses on espionage with Section 31.

This is especially true if the focus of her work brings her in contact with other espionage factions from various other prominent worlds; like the Tal Shiar, the Obsidian Order, or The True Way €“ all of whom are operating heavily during this time period. This is especially true of the Tal Shiar, an oppressive organization trying to rebuild the Romulan Star Empire which was destroyed by the Hobus Star supernova (an event displayed in the 2009 Star Trek film).

There are a huge variety of storylines that exist in this time period, also during the early 25th century, including many of the characters suggested on this list. The most specific, involving heavy conflict, is between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. The Klingons are experiencing a rise of power, becoming more unified with the Gorn, Orions, Nausicaans, and Letheans. Another is the unification of the Romulans and Remans into a republic on New Romulus, their newly christened homeworld. This separate faction, being helped by the Federation, is completely opposed to the Tal Shiar; which appears to be a puppet race of the returning Iconian race.

An espionage series, with an Iconian meta-story, would be more specifically "Spy-Fi" then the traditional, "we're explorers" Sci-Fi scenario in Star Trek. The traditional Star Trek is something we've seen, time-and-time again. Ds9 tried to use more espionage, and eventually got adjusted to be a war-time style narrative. A series on Miral Paris, in this setting, would already be in a war-time scenario, but with more subtle undertones and less focus on the exploration of the galaxy. But it would use Star Trek based spy-tech, and that would be awesome.

I'm an award winning producer of independent media, and I get to edit books, screenplays, and comics in my day to day. I love working on independent film & games, during my down time, as well as reviewing films while gobbling down milk duds (it's an addiction, I know). I've been called "Geek-Prime" among my peers for all the fandoms I work in, and I wear that title proudly. It's a passion, and an exercise in my growing profession, to get to write about what I love. Which happens to be a little of everything. But mostly film, comics, horror, games, anime, literature, and life.
