Star Trek: 12 Characters That Deserve Their Own Series

5. Captain Data Of The Enterprise-E

Star Trek Captain Data

Data has long been a huge fan favorite in the Trek universe. So much in fact, that his "death" during the Nemesis film was (of course) hinted to not be permanent. Various pieces of Trek expanded universe material, from novels, comics, and Star Trek Online have shown his continuing exploits. One of them being his eventual promotion to Captain and his assignment to the Enterprise-E.

We've seen a long line of material on Data that spanned multiple series and even watched Brent Spiner play Arik Soong, the ancestor of his creator, in ENT. What many of us would love to see, is a series where he is calling all the shots and running the Enterprise itself, as illustrated in the comics. While the comic material has a variety of characters already setup. I'd suggest a series like this bring other characters that have "age" longevity into play, like Seven of Nine, Icheb (all grown up), Spock, Ezri Dax, even the Doctor, as recurring characters.

In TNG and DS9 fashion, a series like this could easily have a lead-in to an Odyssey-Class handoff introducing Shon. Flashing back to his exploits with the USS Belfast, giving the audience time to acclimate to the next possible Captain of the Enterprise being an Alien.

I'm a writer, a published author, and editor for a small independent publishing house. I'm an award winning producer of independent media, and I get to edit books, screenplays, and comics in my day to day. I love working on independent film & games, during my down time, as well as reviewing films while gobbling down milk duds (it's an addiction, I know). I've been called "Geek-Prime" among my peers for all the fandoms I work in, and I wear that title proudly. It's a passion, and an exercise in my growing profession, to get to write about what I love. Which happens to be a little of everything. But mostly film, comics, horror, games, anime, literature, and life. I do write about academic material, like politics, medicine, physics, and mathematics too. But for the most part, I like to keep things down to earth and simple. Follow me on Twitter & Facebook
