Star Trek Characters That Need To Meet Each Other (Somehow)

1. Archer and Pike

This is the great meeting that has never happened, although it’s not too late. Captain Jonathan Archer was confirmed to be in attendance at the launch of the Enterprise 1701, then passing away peacefully the next day.

Captain Robert April commanded the Enterprise on her first mission, being replaced by Pike after this. However, seeing as the linear flow of time is but a suggestion in Star Trek from time to time, having Archer - the first deep space captain of an Enterprise in Starfleet - meet with Pike, one of the most influential in Starfleet’s younger years - would be a meeting for the ages.

Pike, we now know, has been fully aware of the fate that awaits him for at least a decade before it happens. His accident, leaving him bound to a chair and unable to communicate outside of flashing lights, has been an enormous burden to bear. For Archer’s position, he bore the burden of commanding a ship during some of Starfleet’s darkest days, the Xindi war. Both men know the pain and darkness of leading when there is seemingly no hope, as well as the elation of finding hope again.

Archer’s story is also entwined with the Earth-Romulan war. Though no one is supposed to have seen Romulans by Pike’s day, thanks to a bit of time travel, he knows all about them. What better man to share thoughts with?

Finally, if the suggested Star Trek: United series is given a pilot order, what’s to say a montage of Starfleet’s future couldn’t help usher in this new show, combining some of the great faces of the franchise’s future?

We can dream.
