Star Trek Deep Space Nine Cast: Where Are They Now?

17. Rom - Max Grodénchik

Star Trek Deep Space Nine
CBS

First appearing in the Next Generation as Sovak in Captain's Holiday and Par Lenor in The Perfect Mate, Max Grodénchik, like his on screen brother Armin Shimerman, has played several different characters in Star Trek. He is of course most well known for playing the lovable buffoon Rom, Quark's brother on Deep Space Nine.

Written originally as 'Ferengi Pit Boss' in Emissary, his character grew immeasurably over the seasons until he was finally made Grand Nagus in the series penultimate episode. From this height in the Trek universe, he then went on to other projects once the show finished.

He made guest appearances in ER (like much of Hollywood during that show's run), Crossing Jordan and Six Feet Under. He is an accomplished singer, lending his vocal talent to Rom in the episode The Siege of AR-558. He also wrote and performed Rom's Song, which he often performs at conventions, which laments his wishes to take over Quark's bar and have Odo finally leave the station.

Like many of his co-stars, he also appeared in What We Left Behind, wherein he also sings, this time with Jeffrey Combs, Casey Biggs and Armin Shimerman.
