Star Trek: Discovery 3.12 Review: Ups And Downs From There Is A Tide

Audiences might be forgiven for not immediately recognizing the face of Aurelio this week. After all, while this is the fourth character that Kenneth Mitchell has portrayed in Star Trek: Discovery, it is the first time his 'human' image has been seen. In seasons one and two, he played three different Klingons: Kol, Kol-sha and Tenavik. Here, he gets to show off his bearded image!

Mitchell announced last year that he was suffering from ALS, which put his future in Star Trek in question. However, it should also be noted that one of his first appearances after this was while crowd surfing across the dance floor while a DJ blared the Discovery theme tune, while on the Star Trek cruise. Does that have anything to do with this article? No, not really. Does it need to be remembered. ABSOLUTELY!

He is able to appear in this episode with a backstory that places him in a wheelchair, but this doesn't affect his mind in the slightest. He is in fact credited as a brilliant scientist, and Mitchell's conversation with Anthony Rapp is fantastic.

It is with sincere hope that next week's episode is not the last time that Mitchell's Aurelio appears in Star Trek. He clearly has a conscience, and would make a great addition to Stamets' team of scientists. He is a massive UP this week!
