Star Trek Discovery Season 3: Everything You Need To Know

A year into the Klingon War, Michael is serving out her life sentence in prison and beating herself up for the death of Captain Georgiou.

While being transferred to a new facility, Michael is brought aboard the USS Discovery where she's recruited by Captain Gabriel Lorca to assist his efforts to perfect the experimental spore drive and win the war.

Captain Lorca is shifty AF and Michael is hesitant to get back into Starfleet – especially after an ugly confrontation with her old shipmate, Saru, who's now first officer of the Discovery. However, Michael ultimately chooses to remain aboard, forming a fast friendship with Cadet Sylvia Tilly, a flirtation with former POW Ash Tyler, and taking a vital role in aiding Lieutenant Stamets in getting the spore drive operational.

With the spore drive working, Discovery is instrumental in winning several victories against the Klingons, including taking aboard a Klingon prisoner called L'Rell, who was once Ash Tyler's captor, torturer, and lover.

Just as it seems Discovery may have given the Federation an edge in the war, a glitch in the spore drive sends the ship to a dark, parallel reality. In this alternative reality, a fascistic Terran Empire rules and dark "mirror" versions familiar characters exist, including the evil Terran Emperor, Philippa Georgiou.
